■Quirebit Inc. · Independent software

Careful software for working documents.

Quirebit makes native apps for people whose work lives in drawings, plans and PDFs: the ones who read them closely, mark them up and sign them off.

01The name

A quire is a gathering of sheets, folded together and ready to be bound. A bit is the smallest thing a computer knows. Quirebit works where the two meet: paper’s habits, carried into software without losing the care.

quire /kwʌɪə/ · noun
Sheets of paper folded one inside another to make a section of a book. Traditionally, twenty-four or twenty-five sheets.
bit /bɪt/ · noun
A binary digit. One or zero, the unit every file is made of.

03Principles

How we build.

i.

Native, not wrapped.

Each app is written for the device it runs on, so it behaves like part of your Mac, iPad or iPhone, not like a web page in a window.

ii.

Your files stay yours.

Work happens on your device, in standard formats. No account to create, and nothing held hostage in a format only we can read.

iii.

Detail is the product.

Our users are paid to notice small things. The software should hold itself to the same standard, down to the last hairline.

iv.

Say what is true.

Plain descriptions, clear limits, and no claims a tool cannot back up. Measurements are only as good as the drawing and its calibration, and we say so.
